Venus: What do We Need?

The Venus transit was earlier this week but its impact may be felt strongly until Venus goes direct on 6/24. I like this topic because it resonates with some core themes that I have always tried to focus on with myself and my clients.

I think this Venus transformation is about coming to know what our needs and priorities are. What do we really need? With love, money, and beauty? What did we think was important, that we are now coming to realize is valid, but of less importance? How can remaining in contact with love help us to more gracefully let go of what is not serving us?

Venus can help us focus on Love ♥ and can see all of our activities and relationships as “Good Ceremony,” like a yoga of continuing self-love and the step by step creation of love and beauty in our life. These current months are helping us focus on loving ourselves and embracing what we need. The Venus energy is turned more inward than usual and we are more likely to be looking at if our relationships serve us.

It is no easy task to get comfortable with the word need, to strip it down to what we really need, and to embrace the divine essence of that. We can move from being afraid or ashamed of what we need, to deeply connected to our innocence. We can then use being in greater touch with what we need as a simple guide that helps us stay on track and love ourselves and others deeply.

  1. “Letting go of what’s not serving us”…this is something I’ve meditated on for the past year. Discerning whether or not something is serving us seems to be the most difficult part. It takes so much maturity and such a strong connection to our deepest, truest inner voice to be able to discern. So often we think things are not serving us because they are challenging or not “making us happy”…when in reality those are the things that could serve us the most, if we let them. It’s tricky stuff. Marion Woodman once said, “There is no sense talking about “being true to myself” until you are sure what voice you are being true to. It takes hard work to differentiate the voices in the unconscious…we are challenged to break the old boundaries and leap beyond anything we ever imagined.” (from Conscious Femininity).

In general, I think people are too quick to “walk away” and call it “letting go of what is not serving us” as a defense against growth and awakening…at the same time, we are certainly quick to hold on too tightly out of fear. I suppose fear is a good starting place as far as things worth letting go of, because who can see Self, feel Heart or hear Voice in the grips of fear? As always, Self awareness is key.

Thanks for the thoughtful posts! So much to consider…
